Run agile projects well
2 full days
The role of the product owner is often overlooked, and it is the main reason why Scrum teams struggle. I remember a colleague trainer mentioned that he does ten times more scrum master courses than product owner courses. There is simply not enough focus in the industry on doing Agile product management well.
But project success is twofold. If a Scrum team is like a car then the Product Owner is like a driver – you clearly need a well-performing vehicle and an experienced pilot. Without the product owner, your Agile teams will go nowhere fast.
This course looks at the other side of Scrum – product visioning, release and strategy planning, requirements gathering and customer experience design. The course can work as a refresher, or as a starter. People who have attended my classes twice admit that they had learnt something new on both occasions. And let’s not forget about getting certified – it can become an important milestone and a springboard for your career.
The course is two full days. We start at 8:30 a.m. and finish 4:30 p.m. on both days.
The maximum number of delegates is 16. It allows for more focused learning and in-depth discussions.
The course includes one attempt in internationally recognized certification from Scrum.org. But good news – you can get two certificates: a certificate of attendance (guaranteed) with a unique number which is verifiable within South Africa, and one attempt for Professional Scrum Product Owner I exam.
Yes. The Professional Scrum Product Owner Level I is recognized in many countries, including the US, Europe, Australia, and Middle East.
No. Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification is done in association with Scrum Alliance. We are writing an exam from Scrum.org. Scrum Alliance and Scrum.org are equally recognized. In fact, the founder of Scrum.org, Ken Schwaber, is also co-founder of Scrum framework itself.
No. You will have it for the rest of your life.
Currently, there are two levels for Product Owners. Level I is an entry level which can be obtained by attending this course and going through all extra preparation materials. The exam is purely theoretical. Level II is designed for practicing Product Owner with a few years of experience. The questions in this exam is more scenario based.
No. You will have two weeks after the course to prepare. I will send extra reading, videos, and practice tests for you to get ready. People report that it takes between 8 to 20 extra hours for review.
Yes. You are welcome to make notes and use your study materials. However, the exam is very fast – you only have 60 minutes to answer 80 questions. There won’t be time to google.
